Redland's roof integrated PV system gives an aesthetically attractive roof that is quick to install

Redland’s newly introduced PV tile system is proving its effectiveness by generating more power than anticipated in computer modelling - 3.4KW of electricity at peak output – at one of its first UK installations for roofing contractors Steadfast Roofing.

The roof integrated PV system makes use of 38 panels fitting flush with Redland’s Terracotta Brindle Landmark Double Pantile tiles giving an aesthetically attractive roof that is quick to install.

Redland anticipates that the very encouraging initial sales of the product will continue. Head of Marketing Richard Hartley said, “Since the FIT scheme was introduced adoption of PV technology has increased dramatically, looking likely to follow trends in other nations with similar incentives. According to Ofgem 2,257 homes installed PV panels in August, up from 1,700 in July and 1,400 in June and Redland Solar PV tile is ideally placed to satisfy this growing need.”

James Robinson, Senior Estimator at Steadfast Roofing Ltd said; “We expect to see increased business with PV and believe that a roof integrated system such as Redland’s is ideally suited to the work we carry out. It fits perfectly with Cambrian slate, plain tile and profile tile roofs, looks good when installed and satisfies planners and specifiers alike.”

Steadfast Roofing Ltd carried out the installation to gain its own MCS accreditation. The company now benefits financially from cheaper electricity and payments from the UK FIT scheme. It is also the perfect demonstration model for interested customers. Staff took just one day to complete the work, giving them perfect on the job training.
