Allbrite UK eco retail showroom has no heating or lighting costs
The UK minister of state for the Ministry of Justice, David Hanson, has visited Allbrite UK’s innovative eco-retail showroom in Mold, North Wales, to find out about solar power, solar hot water systems, energy-efficient under floor heating and domestic wind turbines.
The Allbrite UK premises are believed to be the only fully eco retail showroom in the country. Powered by solar generated electricity, with a turf roof providing insulation and solar powered hot water, the store has no heating or lighting costs.
Managing Director, Russell White, said: “Mr Hanson received a demonstration of our solar power generation system and was interested in just how cheaply such systems can be installed in homes and businesses. Allbrite aims to research and develop cost-effective green products which can be easily incorporated into existing and new buildings. Any Government attempt to encourage consumers to go green has to be accompanied by the sale of affordable, energy efficient, easy to install systems.
Mr Hanson, MP for Delyn, North Wales, said: “I am pleased that Allbrite UK continues to develop its business and lead the way in the eco-product sector. Having voted to bring in our first ever Climate Change Act I will continue to promote environmentally sustainable businesses and initiatives to Government.”
Allbrite is one of the fast growing companies in North East Wales, employing 14 people. The company’s head office and warehouse are located in bigger premises on the outskirts of Mold.
Russell added: “We road test all our products to ensure they are robust and meet manufacturer trial claims. We’ve run a year-long trial of our products on our home in Northop Hall. We cut energy costs by more than 80 per cent. Eco-energy generation has progressed a long way in recent years. Using the modern, efficient products we sell, it takes just three-and-a-half years to re-couped the installation cost.”
