Confusion and uncertainty around what can and cannot be recycled
Americans are throwing away less and recycling more. According to a nationwide survey conducted by Mode Products, 77 percent of American households recycle, and 50 percent are recycling more than they did two years ago. And, when looking to 2009 and beyond, 69 percent of households are likely to recycle more.
In addition, the most recent study from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) reported an overall increase in recycling of 20 percent since 2000. However, while America currently recycles 34 percent of its garbage, it is estimated that 75 percent of what is thrown away could be recycled.
To understand the deterrents to recycling, Mode™ Products conducted a nationwide survey and found that Americans most dislike the clutter that recycling creates, and the confusion and uncertainty around what can and cannot be recycled. In response, Mode™ Products has unveiled a solution, the Mode™ All-In-One Recycling Center, addressing this confusion and clutter by sorting, storing, and compacting recyclables all in one simple system.
We all know recycling is the right thing to do, but the process is challenging. First is the task of sorting your recycling based upon local guidelines and next is the chore of figuring out where to keep it all. Many of us use bins or shopping bags to separate recyclables which end up overflowing and require regular trips to the garage, and others simply use countertops as a gathering place for empty water bottles and soda cans.
“Despite increased interest in recycling, we are still not recycling as much as we could,” said Larry Kahn, president of Verde Home Products, makers of Mode™ Products. “We wanted to create a system that is designed for today’s lifestyle, finally streamlining the recycling process in the home by making recycling simple, easy and space-efficient. By allowing you to compact, sort and store all your recyclables in one beautiful place, the Mode™ All-In-One Recycling Center helps you to do your part for the environment without changing your daily routine.”
Designed to be functional and stylish, and not much larger than a typical kitchen trash bin, the new Mode™ All-In-One Recycling Center enables households to streamline the recycling process:
* Sorts & Stores - The Mode™ features two bins so recyclables can be sorted and stored in one designed stainless steel or high gloss black finished system.
* Compacts - The Mode™ Premium Recycling Center’s patent-pending compaction system crushes aluminum cans, eight ounce to two liter plastic bottles, and quart or half gallon jugs in one easy step that doesn’t require an electrical outlet, holding up to three times more than a typical recycling bin.
* Reminds - The Mode™ features a recycling day programmable digital alert, so a pick-up is never missed.
* Moves - The Mode™ eight gallon and five gallon bins nest for easy one-trip transporting, for fewer trips to the garage.
* Tracks - The Premium All-In-One Recycling Center inspires recycling habits with a clever Eco-Track™ system that measures and remembers how much has been recycled, and the My Mode online journal logs progress over time on the Mode™ website.
