enXco wind farm signs power purchase agreement with Southern Minnesota Municipal Power Agency
(25/06/2008)
enXco, the US subsidiary of EDF Energies Nouvelles has announced the signing of a power purchase agreement with the Southern Minnesota Municipal Power Agency (SMMPA).
The 20-year agreement covers the sale of the electricity generated by the 100.5 MW Wapsipinicon wind farm currently being developed in Mower County, Minnesota.
The wind farm, which will be owned by enXco, will have 67 turbines with a unit capacity of 1.5 MW supplied by GE Energy. Construction is scheduled to be complete by the end of 2008.
After the 150 MW Shiloh II wind farm in California, the Wapsipinicon wind farm is the second large-scale project to be built by EDF Energies Nouvelles for its own account in the United States in 2008. It will strengthen the Group’s positions in Minnesota, where enXco is already active, and will increase EDF EN’s gross capacity in the state to 407.5 MW.
