EDF Energies Nouvelles to develop 99 MW wind farm in Iowa
EDF Energies Nouvelles has announces the signing of a new agreement for the development and construction of the Crane Creek project in Iowa on behalf of a third party. This 99 MW wind farm will be delivered in 2009.
The agreement between enXco, the US subsidiary of EDF Energies Nouvelles, and Wisconsin Public Service Corporation (WPSC), a regional public utility supplying electricity and gas, covers the development and construction of a wind farm of 66 GE turbines, each with 1.5 MW in unit capacity.
Initiated in 2002, the development of the Crane Creek project has now reached a major milestone. It is due to be finalised during 2008, with the award of all the requisite permits from the Iowa state authorities. Construction of the facility is scheduled for 2009.
The development and construction of wind farms on behalf of third parties represents an integral part of EDF Energies Nouvelles’ strategy. This Development and Sale of Structured Assets (DSSA) business is carried out in response to demand from American utilities.
