Solazyme secures DoD contract for algal-derived shipboard fuel

Solazyme, Inc. has completed delivery of over 20,000 gallons of algal-derived shipboard fuel to the U.S. Navy, constituting the world’s largest delivery of 100% microbial-derived, non-alcohol, advanced biofuel. Solazyme secures $76 million in funding to commercialize its biofuels

Solazyme, Inc. has announced that it has surpassed $76 million in funding, which includes a $57 million Series C financing round. Solazyme uses microalgae biotechnology to produce clean and scalable fuels, “green” chemicals, edible oils and health and wellness products. Jeep Liberty fueled by algal-based renewable diesel

Solazyme, Inc. has featured a Jeep Liberty fueled by the world's first algal-based renewable diesel, SoladieselRDTM, at CALSTART Target 2030 in Sacramento, Calif. The fuel, which is a drop-in replacement for standard petrodiesel, has passed American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) D975 specifications.
