Inox Wind partners with AMSC to enter full-scale manufacturing of doubly-fed induction wind turbines(15/02/2011)
In August of 2010, Inox placed an initial order for 17 of American Superconductor Corporation (AMSC)’s wind turbine electrical control systems, which, as the “brains” of the wind turbine, monitor and control its operation and the flow of zero-emission electricity to the power grid. Hyundai Heavy Industries orders AMSC wind turbine power electronic components(03/05/2010)
American Superconductor Corporation (AMSC) has received another follow-on order for 30 sets of wind turbine power electronic components from Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd (HHI). HHI will use the components in the 1.65 megawatt (MW) wind turbines designed by AMSC’s wholly owned AMSC Windtec™ subsidiary. According to the Chinese Wind Energy Association, China will grow its base of wind power from 5.9 gigawatts (GW) at the end of 2007 to more 10 gigawatts in 2008. In its Global Wind Energy Outlook 2008 report, the Global Wind Energy Council estimates that China’s installed base could grow to 101 GW by 2020 under its “moderate” outlook scenario and 201 GW under its “advanced” scenario.
