The UK dairy processing industry has reduced its carbon emissions by an impressive 28%, or nearly 75,000 tonnes a year, since 2000. According to Dairy Energy Savings Chairman Gerard Sweeney, dairy companies in the Climate Change Agreement have saved just under 130,000 tonnes of carbon since the scheme began in 2000. Dairies and creameries have saved emissions of 40,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide since 2000, according to new figures from Dairy Energy Savings, which administers the agreement in the dairy sector.
