Switching off unnecessary lights would save up lighting costs by to 15 percent in London's workplaces
(23/12/2010)

In London, workplaces make up 43 percent of carbon emissions and lighting accounts for a fifth of these. It has been estimated that lighting costs could be cut by up to 15 percent simply by turning off lights in areas that are not being used. Switching off unnecessary lights would save money for London’s workplaces, which is a clear incentive in the current economic climate. Howard Dawber, head of strategy at the Canary Wharf Group, told the Assembly’s Environment Committee that the Governmen... [more]

(09/06/2010)

According to a report published in May 2010 by the European Photovoltaic Industry Association, Germany continues to dominate the European PV market with 68% market share, followed by Italy and the Czech Republic. Belgium and France both showed steady growth throughout 2009 whilst Spain’s market appeared to slow because of the recession. Energy intensive manufacturing companies should prepare for Carbon Reduction Commitment scheme
(10/12/2007)

Although the government's proposed Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) will be implemented in stages from 2010 to 2013, it will affect businesses much sooner because charges are likely to be based on consumption from January 2008 to December 2008. Other initiatives in the CRC proposals are incentives for organisations that take early action to reduce emissions; a charge for energy consumers that exceed their carbon allowance; and a carbon league table with cash rewards for star performers and stif...
