The Green Deal aims to enable private firms to offer consumers energy improvements to their homes, communities and businesses at no upfront cost and to recoup payments as a charge in instalments on the energy bill. The Green Deal... [more]

A great project; a bad process
Building a city-owned cogeneration power plant to serve industries near the Denton Airport is a forward-thinking idea that we have already endorsed in this space. Slipping around the voters to get it done was a misguided tactic that could further erode the already deteriorating confidence that Denton residents have in their leaders. We wish the city had found another way to get this project done.

Power plant sidesteps voters
A state law that allows Denton to build a power plant and sell natural gas to industries near Denton Airport also allowed the city to bypass a charter provision that could have required voter approval of the project.
