Skykon wins contract to supply towers for largest onshore wind farm in Europe(27/11/2009)
Scottish and Southern Energy is to build 152 turbines for the Clyde Wind Farm near Abington in South Lanarkshire, Scotland. The £500 million project is expected to offer 350MW of new renewable electricity generating capacity – providing enough power for more than 200,000 homes. Skykon has welcomed news that the UK renewable and energy sectors have received a boost in this year's budget announced by chancellor Alistair Darling. Offshore wind investments will receive £525m of new financial support over the next two years funded through the renewables obligation. Skykon acquires Vestas wind tower manufacturing plant (31/03/2009)
Danish company Skykon has announced that it has acquired the Vestas plant near Campbeltown. The agreement will save the seven-year-old wind tower manufacturing plant from closure, bringing long term job security to the 100-strong workforce.
