The effects of SO3 formation are becoming increasingly problematic for power plants. SO3 is formed in the boiler by oxidation of sulfur dioxide (SO2), which arises from the combustion of solid and liquid fuels containing sulfur. Fuel Tech, Inc. has announced receipt of multiple air pollution control contracts totaling $2.5 million.
