Rooftop solar-electric system for FedEx distribution hub

FedEx Ground, the small-package shipping unit of FedEx Corp., has announced plans to install the US largest rooftop solar-electric system at its distribution hub in Woodbridge, N.J. The solar power project is the third between a FedEx operating company and BP Solar and the fifth solar power project for FedEx. FedEx Corp. and BP Solar have announced the completion and activation of a second project together, a solar system for a FedEx Freight distribution center in Fontana, Calif. The 269 kW (kilowatt) rooftop solar array utilizes BP Solar modules. The first joint system was inaugurated on Earth Day 2008 at FedEx Freight’s facility in Whittier, Calif.
