Q-Cells SE: Q.SMART thin film solar module generates 2.5 percent power boost above Nominal Power
(29/06/2011)

Q-Cells SE has introduced Q.SMART, a high-yield and high-efficiency thin film module, designed to maximize power output and return-on-investment in distributed solar generation. With aperture efficiencies of up to 14.7 percent, Q.SMART holds the world record for thin film modules in serial production since 2009. Q.SMART’s unique CIGS technology is the only thin film solar technology that does not initially degrade in the first years of operation. Q.SMART harnesses a “light-soaking” effect to ... [more]

Q-Cells: ATS and Q-Cells join forces to serve solar opportunities in the Ontario market
(22/09/2010)

ATS Automation Tooling Systems Inc. and Q-Cells SE have established a joint venture for the development of large scale renewable energy projects in Ontario. ATS and Q-Cells each hold a 50 percent interest in the project development company Ontario Solar PV Fields Inc., which received conditional Feed-In-Tariff (FIT) contracts from the Ontario Power Authority (OPA) in April for seven Ontario ground mounted projects totaling 64 megawatts (MW). The projects represent approximately 10 percent of ... [more]

QinetiQ: Plans to harness the wind power potential of the North Sea present an opportunity for the UK to become a centre of excellence in offshore wind technologies
(20/01/2010)

The Government recently announced the next phase of its plan to produce over 30GWs of offshore wind power by 2020. While this would be the most ambitious offshore wind power development in the world, it is not without its critics, who point to problems with maintenance and reliability in the hostile environment of the North Sea and also question whether the UK has the technical expertise to implement and manage such a project. QinetiQ counters this view. The company is currently working wit... [more]

QinetiQ: QinetiQ and Vestas Wind Systems develop radar mitigation technology for wind turbines
(06/11/2009)

40% of UK wind farm plans never go ahead because of objections about radar interference. At the British Wind Energy Association’s annual conference this week, Ed Miliband declared radar to be one of the UK’s major barriers to using wind energy to meet its 2020 renewable energy targets. QinetiQ and Vestas Wind Systems have announced the successful trial of a unique radar mitigation technology for wind turbines. Using a jointly designed 44m prototype turbine blade manufactured by Vestas, the te... [more]

QinetiQ: QinetiQ to develop PyTEC Pyrolysis Waste Disposal System for the US Army
(14/10/2009)

QinetiQ has been awarded a £1.5 million, three year Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract to develop and deliver PyTEC™ – an ISO containerised Pyrolysis Waste Disposal System – to the US Army. Able to operate 24/7 and process up to 100kg of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) per hour, the PyTEC system also reclaims up to 500 kW of the thermal energy from the waste per hour, a proportion of which will be used to sustain the process for electricity generation. The self sustaining th... [more]
