Delmarva Power and Synergics Wind Energy have signed long-term contracts under which Delmarva would purchase up to 100 megawatts of land-based wind power to help meet its renewable energy goals in Delaware.

According to a recent report from the South Korean Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy, South Korea is poised to enter the global solar market with domestically produced modules. Using concentrated solar energy to reverse combustion, a research team from Sandia National Laboratories is building a prototype device intended to chemically “reenergize” carbon dioxide into carbon monoxide using concentrated solar power. The carbon monoxide could then be used to make hydrogen or serve as a building block to synthesize a liquid combustible fuel, such as methanol or even gasoline, diesel and jet fuel.

Darby Overseas Investments, Ltd., the private equity arm of Franklin Templeton Investments, has announced that its Darby Converging Europe Mezzanine Fund (DCEMF) made an investment commitment of EUR 16.40 million in Zaklady Tluszczowe Bodaczow, the fifth largest producer of vegetable oils and edible fats in Poland.
